Award winning, dragon slaying, app company doing it for Galway!

Global Internet Radio Technologies (GIRT ) has been selected as the company providing mobile content for the Volvo Ocean Race when it comes to Galway next July. GIRT was one of the successful companies on RTE’s Dragon’s Den last year getting offers of investment from two Dragons Sean Gallagher and Bobby Kerr. It also won best business idea at the Sunday Business Post out on your own contest last year. GIRT is now backed by Nokia and Microsoft and is producing applications for Apple, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone 7 and Nokia devices.

With an eye on the horizon the Company has now partnered with the let’s do it Global Team here in Galway to produce a knock-out ‘localised’ application for the Volvo Ocean Race in 2012 . The application will cover both on and off shore activities, with live video feeds of the action out on the water plus the latest on-shore activities. ‘Aonghus O’hEocha Managing Director said ‘this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Galway at it’s very best using a highly engaging and versatile mobile platform.
